Counterbores
A counterbore bit is a specialized tool that creates a cylindrical, flat-bottomed recess at the top of a pilot hole, allowing a fastener head to sit flush with or below the surface of the material. It differs from a countersink bit because its larger hole has a straight, 90-degree wall with no taper, ensuring a flat seating surface for the fastener head. This is essential for applications where a smooth finish is needed or where the fastener needs to be recessed.
